The Opportunity

Reporting into the Transformation Office, the AI Strategy & Data Science Lead offers deep technical leadership, domain expertise, and strategic direction, driving the development and implementation of solutions to meet evolving business needs and strategies.

This role is instrumental in advancing design architecture and enhancing technology capabilities in line with industry advancements. It also presents a unique opportunity to shape the future, build impactful solutions, and have meaningful influence on the organization’s direction. Additionally, the AI Strategy & Data Science Lead serves as a key advisor to senior leaders, providing guidance and governance to technology teams and business areas across the organization.

What You’ll Do

• Recognized as an internal and external expert in specific domain(s) within the organization; spends the majority of their time on technical issues
• Sets the direction and oversees the work of other IT professionals as assigned on complex, highly-visible projects of significant profile, strategic importance, and enterprise impact to the TC Energy
• Recognized as an internal expert within the broad data science field and may have specialized expertise within multiple domains
• Provides consultative and strategic guidance to business partners

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Graduate degree
• Strong academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering) or 15+ years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience working with product and data science partners
• 5+ years of experience in delivering real-world AI solutions: recommendation systems, predictive models, fraud detection, personalization, GenAI, LLM fine tuning, etc.
• 5+ years of experience working with Product and Data Science partners in developing ML solutions
• Strong understanding of machine learning concepts, deep learning, natural language processing, etc.
• 5+ years of experience with MLOps & Productionalization: expertise in model lifecycle management (data versioning, model registry, CI/CD, drift monitoring, retraining pipelines) from an AI lens
• 5+ years of experience with big data engineering 
• 5+ years of hands on experience with AI/ML platforms on Azure ML or AWS SageMaker
• Strong familiarity with MDLC including model training, evaluating, and deploying models using ML frameworks including TensorFlow, PyTorch, AWS Bedrock
