POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Client Partner, you’re not just selling services—you’re helping Canadian entrepreneurs thrive. You’ll be the face of BDC Advisory Services in your region, working closely with business owners to understand their challenges, configure the way forward and propose to them the right solutions to make a difference in their business. You’ll collaborate with internal teams to deliver real impact and build long-term relationships that go beyond a single project.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

In a typical week, you might:

  • Build and nurture a strong pipeline of opportunities by connecting with entrepreneurs and understanding their business goals.

  • Use strategic insight and diagnostic tools to uncover client needs and recommend tailored advisory solutions.

  • Lead the client experience from first conversation to final delivery—ensuring smooth handoffs, clear proposals, and measurable outcomes.

  • Act as a trusted advisor, offering guidance that aligns with your client’s broader strategy—not just the project at hand.

  • Collaborate with internal teams across Advisory Services and Financing to deliver seamless, high-impact solutions.

  • Stay sharp on market trends, regional business dynamics, and emerging client needs to keep your advice relevant and forward-looking.

  • Champion BDC’s full suite of services, helping clients unlock more value through cross-functional collaboration.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, or a related field (MBA is a plus).

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, consulting, or professional services.

  • A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

  • Experience working with SMEs or as an entrepreneur across diverse industries.

  • Bonus points for experience in advisory roles.

  • Strong business acumen and a knack for strategic thinking.

  • High emotional intelligence—you know how to listen, build trust, and influence.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for helping entrepreneurs succeed.

What makes you stand out

  • Conversations with business owners energize you, and you love uncovering what makes their business tick.

  • You’re curious, creative, and not afraid to challenge the status quo. More than just building relationships, but showing an entrepreneur ways to transform their business to the next level.

  • You’re a connector—someone who builds relationships that last.

  • You’re driven by impact, not just activity.

  • You bring structure to complexity and clarity to ambiguity.

  • You believe that how we work together is just as important as what we deliver.

In Calgary, job seekers can find a wide range of opportunities.
