About The Team 

The AI ML Engineer Intern will join the Supply Chain Digital Transformation team within the Supply Chain Management (SCM) organization at FIS. Our team is responsible for optimizing operational efficiencies of supply chain business processes through the agile and innovative use of technology to enable control, insight, and rapid decision-making. We value collaboration and teamwork, and our team members work closely together to develop and implement strategies for modernizing the Supply Chain organization of the future.

About the Role

The AI ML Engineer Intern will support the optimization of supply chain business processes to improve overall organization performance by developing, maintaining, and testing custom prompt AI models using MS Power Platform. The department focuses on developing and implementing operational excellence strategies that will modernize the Supply Chain organization of the future by improving communication, data synergy, and streamlining processes for automation.  The co-op student will be involved in all stages of development, including gathering requirements, designing, developing, testing, and deploying solutions.

The position will be fully remote, with occasional travel to the office as needed. In-person outings will be organized for the co-op students during the term and attendance is encouraged.

The position is available is an 8-month co-op placement.

What You Will Be Doing  

We are looking for an AI ML Engineer Intern who will support the end-to-end operational transformation team. As a co-op, you will work closely with the team to support the development and enhancement of SCM tools and applications using MS Power Platform and Power Apps AI Builder that impact key functional departments and across customer journeys. You will help develop internal controls and management reporting to monitor and measure the effectiveness of improvement initiatives. You will support the planning, development, and implementation of operational excellence strategies.  Example work areas will include:

  • Prompt engineering and AI Model Optimization

  • Keep up-to-date with LLM latest trends and technologies.

  • Leverage third-party machine learning APIs (e.g., Microsoft Azure).

  • Identify ways to ensure the model continuously updates with new data.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI models into productive environments.

  • Provide effective and easy-to-reference documentation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, ideate, develop, test, and deploy solutions.

  • Provide agile changes to SCM tools and processes using MS Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) with great emphasis on Power Automate.

  • Assist in the troubleshooting and maintenance of existing applications.

What You Bring

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related program

  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited Co‑operative Education program at an Ontario university or college for the duration of the placement, from January 2026 through August 2026.

  • Strong understanding of MS Power Platform (Power Apps, CoPilot Studio) with greater emphasis on AI Prompt-Engineering.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Excellent proactive communication skills to collaborate with team members to convey progress, obstacles, and opportunities.

  • Self-motivated and willingness to learn.

  • Experience with machine learning frameworks

  • Experience with third-party machine learning APIs (e.g., Microsoft Azure).

  • Experience with data extraction and preprocessing.
