The Opportunity
The Customer Solutions team is looking to hire a new team member to support the Capacity Management Department. You will experience the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of the regulated pipeline business and the connected customer industry, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle - from project inception through to retirement - while working collaboratively with a broad range of internal teams across Gas Co.
The successful candidate will be part of a team primarily responsible for evaluating customer service requests and determining facility requirements for connections across NGTL, Foothills, ATCO, and Mainline pipeline systems. In this senior engineer role, you will take ownership of day-to-day technical issues, complete technical reviews and complex analyses, and provide technical support and continuity to enable effective decision-making across the team all while supporting our customers’ commercial needs.
What you will do:
- Lead and support the resolution of day‑to‑day technical issues within the Customer Solutions scope, escalating as required.
- Complete and review Customer Solutions technical deliverables (such as customer requests for incremental gas flow, hydraulic simulations, economic evaluations, regulatory support), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with established processes and guidelines.
- Independently complete more complex analysis and project work, including hydraulic modeling, facility assessments, and evaluation of customer requests.
- Support prioritization of technical work in coordination with the Technical Lead.
- Collaborate with Commercial, Engineering, Projects, Operations, and other internal teams to resolve technical questions and improve workflows.
- Identify and support process improvements, documentation needs, and opportunities to improve consistency and efficiency of Customer Solutions’ work.
- Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to team members, supporting consistency and knowledge sharing across the team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical are preferred).
- Five or more years of progressive, relevant experience (additional recognized professional education or training may offset experience requirement).
- Registered as a P. Eng (Professional Engineer) with APEGA.
- Hydraulic simulation software experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently identify, assess, and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying, leading, and implementing process improvements to enhance team efficiency and consistency.
- Interest in leveraging technology and data-driven tools, with the ability to apply or further develop programming and automation skills relevant to the role.
- Technology application experience would be an asset including the use of Genetic Algorithm, AI, Machine Learning, and Power platform to provide business solutions
- Experience reviewing technical work products and providing clear, constructive feedback is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of meter stations, laterals, commercial processes, and regulated pipeline operations is considered an asset.
