The Role
Cash App is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to be a part of the Cash Data Science - Data Engineering & Empowerment Team. The purpose of the team is to design, develop, and maintain data products for all of Block for both analytical and operational use cases. As a Data Engineer, you will be engaged in a diverse range of projects including platform optimisation, self-serve data frameworks, and ETL/data modeling. This is a great opportunity for someone with a Data Warehousing + Platform Engineering background who is experienced in AWS Cloud Infrastructure and wants to build their career within a progressive, global company.
This role will be the first US hire for an Australia-based team.
You Will

  • Procure, process, and curate data from myriad sources across Block to support analytics, ML, and operations
  • You will work closely with stakeholders from Risk, Sales, Ops, and Data Science teams
  • Write secure, clear, well-structured, and performant code using Python and SQL
  • Maintain an AWS cloud platform through infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Mentor and coach team members to improve their designs and solutions
  • Participate in after-hours and weekend support rotations


You Are

  • A professional with 5+ years industry experience solving complex and diverse business problems
  • Passionate about data, analytics, and AI/ML
  • Customer-centric, and embrace change as customer's needs evolve
  • A team player, which means being respectful, willing to co-create, and trusting your team
  • Well-versed in data concepts such as Data Lake, Data Warehousing, ingestion patterns, etc.
  • Experienced with CI/CD
  • Experienced with AWS Platform and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Experienced with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
  • Experienced with distributed data processing
  • Experienced working with Agile methodologies
  • Based in Pacific Time Zone for collaboration with teammates in Australia
