This is a non-union position

We are seeking a motivated and analytical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our System Optimization team. In this role, you will provide critical technical expertise to enhance pipeline throughput and minimize power consumption through applied engineering analysis, system modelling, and data-driven decision making. You will leverage your knowledge of fluid dynamics, pump performance, and hydraulic systems to identify inefficiencies, validate constraints, and implement cost-effective optimization strategies that support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

What You Will Do:

  • Apply fluid mechanics and hydraulic modelling to evaluate flow rates, pressure profiles, and system constraints, ensuring optimal pipeline operation.

  • Analyze pump performance, energy consumption, terminal and tank constraints, and tariff structures to recommend operating strategies that reduce power usage while maintaining throughput targets.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance analytical tools and models to automate workflows, improve data analysis, and accelerate decision-making.

  • Validate and calibrate pipeline models (e.g., EBSS and PAOS) against real-world system performance data to ensure model accuracy and system integrity.

  • Translate complex engineering analyses into clear, actionable insights to support operations, scheduling, and cross-functional decision-making.

  • Apply first-principles engineering (fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and hydraulics) to assess project feasibility, forecast system behavior, and quantify economic benefits.

  • Conduct technical reviews of project designs, models, and assumptions throughout stage gates, identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery.

What you have:

  • Completion of an Engineering Degree related to Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited University.

  • Eligible for registration or currently registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA in the Province of Alberta.

Working conditions:

  • Office environment.

  • Minimal travel (<5%) required.

Benefits:

  • A flexible benefits program that allows each employee to select the level of coverage needed for their family in the areas of health, dental, insurance and disability.

  • A paid maternity and parental leave benefit that offers up to 20 weeks of paid leave for birth-giving parents and up to 12 weeks for other eligible parents, providing flexibility and support during this important life event.

  • Valuable retirement savings plans, including a savings plan with company stock as an investment option.

  • Paid time off/vacation/sick, plus paid personal days off (depending on location), and paid holidays.

  • An Employee and Family Assistance Program.

  • A Wellness Program, which focuses on supporting healthier employees by providing tools, resources, and opportunities to improve physical, mental, social, and financial well-being.

  • Enbridge’s FlexWork (hybrid work model) offers eligible employees (Manager and below) the option to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays, opt for a compressed workweek schedule, or have flexible start and end times. Role requirements determine your eligibility for each option. #LI-Hybrid
