Northbridge Insurance Underwriting Specialist customize solutions for our clients when they need advice on technical risks.  They work closely with our extensive broker network to develop unique solutions for all classes of risk while being responsible for servicing increasing complex accounts in accordance with existing guidelines and business objectives.

The Underwriting Specialist is responsible for underwriting and servicing increasingly complex accounts in accordance with established guidelines and business objectives in the achievement of national standards for data quality and service level agreements. Our Underwriting Specialists are experts in their field and passionate about maintaining strong relationships with our brokers – this means emails and phone calls don’t go unanswered, and in-person broker meetings are regularly penned into their calendars.  Working in a collaborative team, there is the opportunity to coach and mentor junior colleagues and further develop your skills from our more experienced underwriters to help grow your appetite of complex risks.

If you are great at:

  • Commercial underwriting in complex files with insurable high values and/or revenues

  • Sales and negotiations

  • Solutions orientated

  • Developing and maintaining professional relationship with brokers and/or customers

  • Coaching and mentoring more junior underwriters on team

If you have:

  • 10+ years of Commercial Underwriting experience

  • Demonstrated experience underwriting large, technical casualty accounts, including tailored coverage structures and non-standard exposures; required

  • Experience with underwriting Risk Managed or loss-sensitive casualty programs; required

  • Experience with underwriting large commercial property risk is a strong asset

  • Experience with underwriting large commercial auto/fleet is a strong asset

  • Experience with underwriting layered, shared, or subscription casualty placements is an asset

  • Exposure to manuscript or customized policy wordings is an asset

  • Completed, or pursuing your CIP, FCIP designations

  • Strong customer service background

We’re committed to pay transparency and fairness. The base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $125,000, which reflects the expected base pay – not the total compensation package. The actual base salary may vary depending on your experience, skills, and alignment with the position. We’re also open to candidates at different levels, so if this range doesn’t quite match your expectations, don’t let that hold you back — we’d still love to hear from you.
