What is the opportunity?

Are you interested in working as a Business Analyst Intern on the Chief Legal and Administrative Officer (CLAO) Shared Services Team in the CLAO Group at the Royal Bank of Canada?

RBC’s Chief Legal and Administrative Group (CLAO Group) is a critical function within the organization. This group integrates legal, compliance, enterprise strategy, strategic execution of enterprise initiatives, as well as procurement and supplier management, and corporate real estate. In addition, CLAO oversees enterprise controls and data governance to ensure the organization operates ethically, efficiently, and in alignment with regulatory requirements.

Our team is looking for a Business Analyst Intern who is constantly thinking outside the box, ready to dive deep into the smallest details, is passionate about new technologies, research and operational efficiencies!

What will you do?

  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., business units, IT teams) to document business needs, processes, and system requirements related to the effectiveness and efficiency of current processes and systems. Conduct interviews, workshops, or surveys to elicit and clarify requirements.
  • Process Mapping & Documentation: Create process flow diagrams and detailed documentation for Operational processes and procedures for CLAO Business Segments (e.g. risks, controls, invoices, corporate memberships, etc.). Create and/or maintain documentation for compliance, audits, or knowledge transfer.
  • Project Support: Assist in project planning, scheduling, and risk management. Track project milestones, report progress, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

You are an ideal candidate if you have:

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on business administration, project management, or equivalent.
  • Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-have

  • Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge
  • Project Management and/or understanding of Operational Risk practices

Please note: This posting is for a 8-months Summer 2026 Student placement with a start date of May 2026, and end date of December 2026. In order to be eligible for this 8-months Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of December 2026 ; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in December 2026), you must require the full 8-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
