We are currently seeking an Abandonment Coordinator to join our Closure team in Calgary. Reporting to the Team Lead of Closure, the Abandonment Coordinator will support the planning and field execution of abandonment activities, ensure accurate well file data gathering, assist in program development, and provide on-site coordination with service providers and internal stakeholders. This is a hands-on operational role with a strong emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance, and disciplined project management.

Responsibilities:

  • Support with the development and maintenance of long-term strategy and programs sequencing, budgeting, and implementation of well abandonments.

  • Gather, review, and validate historical well file data, including drilling, completions, workovers, and operational records.

  • Develop detailed programs, cost estimates and downhole schematics prior to execution of field work.

  • Prepare documentation required for regulatory submissions and internal approvals.

  • Coordinate with service rigs, wireline, cementing, downhole tool providers, and other vendors.

  • Maintain accurate daily reporting, cost tracking, and documentation of operational activity.

  • Provide technical and administrative guidance.

  • Collaborate with engineering, geology, regulatory, and closure teams to ensure alignment of scope, cost, and schedule.

  • Communicate effectively with vendors to ensure readiness, quality, and consistent execution.

  • Promote a strong safety culture onsite and ensure compliance with all corporate and regulatory HSE guidelines.

  • Ensure execution aligns with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and HSE expectations.

  • Participate in hazard assessments, field-level risk assessments, and incident investigations if required.

Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills, experience with Wellview, Smartsheet, Aucerna, Abadata, MS Office and the ability to adapt to new software.

  • Familiarity with mapping and GIS software.

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent from an accredited University. Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Energy, and Petroleum/Oil & Gas disciplines and P/Eng. preferred.

  • 5 years of energy industry experience, ideally in Well Servicing, Completions, Thermal Operations, workovers or abandonment activities.

  • Exceptional organizational, time management and planning skills as this role has numerous time sensitive deadlines.

  • Effective communication skills as this role requires liaison with other management, various departments, field staff and industry contacts outside the office.

  • Strong understanding of wellbore schematics, downhole configurations, and pressure control equipment.
