How you’ll make a difference: 

Currently we are looking for a professional to join our Actuarial Services team. This team is responsible for the valuation of liabilities, calculation of the industry premium rate and other premium related support for the Underwriting area, risk analysis, financial forecasting and pricing of policy changes. An ideal candidate has a combination of actuarial and strong computer programming skills.

Your responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, development, testing and maintenance of actuarial computer systems for all major actuarial recurring projects and assignments including the actuarial valuation of liabilities, financial forecasting, experience studies, and rate setting.
  • Test and implement actuarial techniques and methods to determine claim benefit liabilities, industry premium rates and experience studies.
  • Provide analysis used in research, planning, and program development in response to internal and external requests.
  • Participate in department-wide and other major projects as required.

Your experience and skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with a major in mathematical, statistical, actuarial sciences and/or computing sciences.
  • Completion of three or more exams towards attainment of Associate of the Society of Actuaries (A.S.A.) or Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (A.C.A.S.) designation with continued pursuit towards associateship by actively writing actuarial exams.
  • This position requires an individual who is a self-starter and is capable of working with minimal guidance.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail along with the ability to deal effectively with people, work under pressure and contribute as a team player will lead to your success in this role.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required.
  • Strong computer programming knowledge in SQL is required.
  • Other programming skills (Visual Basic.Net) are a plus.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills are required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Salary:  $65,837.00 to $77,429.00 per annum (Salary Grade 9)

Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person from our Edmonton downtown office as required. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance (and credit check) as a condition of employment.
