Job Description

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the VP Business Development and Senior BU leaders to develop and implement an integrated business development strategy for our low carbon energy solutions. Manage initiatives to prioritize low carbon project activity across the organization.
  • Develop, recommend and facilitate the implementation of processes to clarify roles and responsibilities for low carbon strategy and project advancement.
  • Provide guidance to Business Unit staff and leadership with respect to the identification and evaluation of potential low carbon business opportunities, including assessing financial impacts, strategic fit, risk profile and other characteristics used to prioritize opportunities.
  • Diligence execution plans of current low carbon opportunities, including financial analysis, risks and commercial structures.  Recommend strategies to enhance project advancement and reduce risk. 
  • Identify, develop and maintain industry relationships and presence with key external parties key to facilitating project development, including government agencies, potential partners, customers, etc.  
  • Provide input and recommendations with respect to the negotiation and execution of contracts, joint ventures, and other strategic agreements to drive business growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, legal and operations to find solutions that ensure successful project development, implementation and delivery.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, policy changes and regulatory frameworks related to low carbon energy solutions and provide strategic guidance to senior management. Ensure that the Enterprise has sufficient and quality industry intelligence on which to base its strategy

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or a related field.
  • 15+ years of proven experience in strategy, development, or partnerships.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing conditions.
  • Exceptional financial analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate economic viability of projects, including economic models, and identify potential revenue streams.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and relationship skills, with the ability to motivate cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Proven experience in managing projects and budgets both large and small.
  • Experience in renewable projects - RNG, low/zero emissions transportation, smart grid, green buildings, and/or related projects.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, policy incentives, and government programs related to low carbon energy solutions is preferred.
  • Extensive network within energy industry preferred (midstream, utilities, industry associations, research institutions, etc).
