The Sr. Financial Analyst is responsible for the accurate settlement, accounting, and financial analysis of NGL purchase/sale and marine transportation activities. The position supports month-end close through accruals, inventory calculations, reconciliations, and variance analysis, while ensuring compliance with SOX and internal controls. The incumbent partners closely with front, middle, and back office teams to support forecasting, reporting, and continuous process improvement, and provides oversight of day-to-day accounting entries. Strong analytical skills, stakeholder communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment are critical for success.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Settlement of NGL purchase and sale and marine transportation, on monthly and ad-hoc basis.
- Prepare monthly accruals and inventory calculations.
- Provide timely analysis of month-over-month and year-over-year variances.
- Review and approve day to day accounting entries of other staff members, ensuring accuracy, appropriate backup and calculations
- Complete account reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
- Build and strengthen relationship with front office, middle office, back office as well as external customers, maintain flow of information.
- Develop in-depth understanding of business drivers.
- Present financial results and analysis to internal stakeholders, support continuous improvement of reporting packages.
- Working closely with stakeholders, support development and maintenance of financial forecast models.
- Support the team to ensure compliance with SOX and internal controls
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Assist with improving current processes and systems. (Allegro, JDE)
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelors’ degree (Commerce, Business Administration or related discipline) and professional accounting designation (CPA or CFA)
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in an operations or marketing accounting role
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work under pressure, prioritize task and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- Able to adapt to changing business needs.
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal. Candidate must be able to work with teams with varying backgrounds, and to communicate to leadership.
- High proficiency in excel.
- Previous NGL Marketing experience considered an asset.
- Experience with Allegro, Oracle Fusion, JD Edwards and Power BI considered an asset.
