Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Development, you will join a small, energetic team responsible for originating and developing creative midstream infrastructure solutions across the natural gas and NGL value chain. You will play a key role in executing AltaGas’ next wave of midstream growth, ensuring new opportunities integrate seamlessly with our existing asset base, including our industry‑leading LPG export business.

This role requires strong commercial acumen, creativity, and deep customer relationships, as well as the ability to lead complex development opportunities from early ideation through to Final Investment Decision (FID).

You will:

  • Identify, evaluate, and originate new midstream opportunities, including raw gas processing, fractionation, storage, and liquids terminaling
  • Think laterally to identify and commercialize value across multiple AltaGas lines of business
  • Proactively engage producer customers to position AltaGas as the preferred solution to their midstream and marketing challenges
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations and structure transactions that deliver sustainable, long-term value for AltaGas and its customers
  • Shepherd development opportunities through the full lifecycle, from concept development to FID
  • Design creative commercial structures that balance AltaGas’ strategic objectives with customer commercial realities
  • Coordinate closely with commercial, finance, projects, strategy, and external affairs stakeholders to advance opportunities to FID
  • Collaborate with the Commercial team to support the execution of long-term contracts underpinning existing assets
  • Advance opportunities through AltaGas’ corporate capital investment and midstream project delivery frameworks
  • Support internal budgeting, capital forecasting, and reporting requirements associated with development activities
  • Mentor and develop team members, with a focus on strengthening commercial thinking, ideation, and deal execution capabilities
  • Prepare and present materials for Midstream Leadership, the Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors

You have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in the energy industry
  • A minimum of 5 years of business development and/or commercial experience in Alberta or British Columbia with an upstream or midstream energy company
  • Strong, established relationships within the Calgary upstream producer community
  • A demonstrated track record of originating, developing, and executing meaningful growth opportunities
  • Commercial creativity, persistence, and an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Proven ability to align and lead cross‑functional teams to deliver complex outcomes on tight timelines
  • Significant experience interpreting and negotiating commercial agreements
  • Comfort operating in high‑stakes environments with the ability to perform under pressure
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with experience using GeoScout
