AltaGas - Financial Analyst, Crude Marketing (16 Month Term)

The Financial Analyst, Crude Marketing (16‑Month Term) supports AltaGas’ crude marketing and refining operations through accurate month‑end reporting, inventory valuation, and financial analysis. This role partners closely with operations to improve cost tracking, contributes to budgeting and forecasting, and assists with process improvements. It offers broad exposure to both finance and operations, providing meaningful hands‑on experience and the opportunity to build strong business relationships.

What You'll Do

  • Perform month-end accounting entries, inventory valuation, and analysis for feedstocks, finished products and operating expenses

  • Prepare management reporting, variance analysis and account reconciliations

  • Partner with operations managers to identify improvements and support cost tracking

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting

  • Assist in process improvement initiatives and ad hoc requests

What You'll Bring

  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, Oil & Gas preferred

  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking ability and a natural curiosity to understand the business

  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

  • A proactive mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well with diverse teams

  • Proficiency in MS Excel; JD Edwards and Power BI experience is a plus

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Commerce, Business Administration or related discipline) with a focus on accounting or finance

  • CPA designation or working toward one is an asset
