AltaGas - Manager, Business Development

As part of our continued growth, our Midstream Business Development group is seeking an experienced business development manager to join the team.  Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Development, you will be part of a collaborative team focused on driving growth and creating value in our Midstream business through the origination, execution and development of energy infrastructure and low carbon projects. You will:

  • Support the Business Development Group by de-risking and progressing business development opportunities to achieve the desired business outcomes.

  • Supporting commercial negotiations and the structuring of commercial agreements

  • Conducting economic analysis and building project level models

  • Build a strong knowledge base of the AltaGas (ALA) midstream assets and midstream strategy.

  • Work collaboratively to identify, evaluate, and execute on opportunities that fit within AltaGas’s strategic plan.

  • Working closely with  internal stakeholder and support groups such as engineering, legal and finance through the business development process, from  opportunity origination through to project implementation to ensure successful project delivery and organization wide support.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to members of the Business Development team.

  • Prepare and present business proposals, including financial analysis and risk assessments.

  • Stay informed and up to date with industry news and events impacting the natural gas liquids, natural gas, crude oil, power, ammonia, and hydrogen markets and assess their potential impacts and opportunities for AltaGas..

You have:

  • Relevant university degree in either Commerce, Economics, Finance, or Engineering

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the energy industry with extensive knowledge of the Midstream industry

  • Prior experience in the origination and development of energy infrastructure projects with exposure to a wide variety of commercial contracts including joint venture agreements

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, GeoScout

  • Strong analytical, financial modeling and problem-solving skills

  • Superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Exploitation and Operations background would be an asset

  • Understanding of NGL, Natural Gas processing and related markets would be an asset

  • Motivated individual able to contribute both individually and as a team player with multiple priorities and tasks in a face-paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail, proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet critical deadlines

  • Ability to structure and understand complex commercial agreements

  • Ability to work with customers and external stakeholders
