AltaGas - Manager, Technical Accounting (15 Month Term)
The Manager of Technical Accounting will be at the forefront of analyzing complex accounting transactions. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to collaborate with various departments, identify and evaluate accounting issues, and provide expert guidance. You'll play a key role in shaping and implementing new accounting policies and procedures, driving innovation and excellence in our financial practices.
You Will:

Develop and maintain knowledge of US GAAP, including but not limited to ASC 815, 810, and 470

Author and present technical accounting memoranda on complex transactions to meet strategic reporting objectives and ensure appropriate accounting treatment

Liaise with external auditors on complex accounting matters

Provide advice and guidance on technical accounting matters to internal stakeholders

Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Prepare materials and be a key contributor to the GAAP committee and Change Control meetings

Assist in the preparation of materials for the Audit Committee

Assist External Reporting with the preparation of externally released financial information

Monitor and update corporate accounting policies and management reporting metrics as appropriate

Manage projects associated with U.S. GAAP and other regulatory changes, including the implementation of new accounting standards

Special projects as required
You Have:
-
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) accounting designation with minimum of 7 - 9 years of progressively senior level experience in accounting/finance

Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS

Enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated team player with effective interpersonal and communication skills

Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities

Proven ability to prioritize, work under pressure with minimal guidance, and meet tight deadlines
