Job Description

AltaGas - Treasury Analyst

Join AltaGas Ltd in Calgary as a Treasury Analyst, where you'll manage liquidity and cash flows, support debt issuance, and ensure regulatory compliance. AltaGas offers a collaborative and inclusive work environment, competitive salary, and opportunities for professional growth.

You Will:

  • Oversees day-to-day cash activities for the US Utilities business

  • Perform Treasury operations:

    • Execute bank documents for borrowing/repayment notices

    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of banking documents

    • Completing vendor bank data forms as required

    • Enter Treasury transactions into the accounting system (Peoplesoft)

    • Manage AP’s pay cycle dispatch process to the bank

    • Support the commercial paper issuance process

  • Take ownership of the cash forecast ensuring its accuracy

    • Assist with the ongoing review and refinement of cash forecasting processes within the treasury management system (Kyriba) including analyzing results, monitoring variances and trends

    • Follow up with various internal departments as required to ensure accuracy of timing and amounts

  • Update the treasury management system in a timely manner to ensure the data is accurate, allowing for better decision-making

  • Analyze and report cash flow projections to senior management

    • Identify trends and make suggestions on ways to improve the process

    • Monitor and track changes made to the forecast for long-range planning

  • Assist in the debt issuance process

  • Support the US regulatory process for treasury considerations

  •  Prepare quarterly board materials

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory merger commitments as well as ongoing compliance reporting

  • Managing relationships:

    • Partner with internal stakeholders

    • Foster relationships with external banking partners

You Will:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in treasury, accounting or finance in a corporate setting

  • Organized with an ownership and continuous improvement mindset

  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools

  • Excellent analytical, complex problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and market trends

  • Experience with regulated utilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; in the process of attaining a CFA or CPA would be beneficial
