Annual salary: USD 140,000 - USD 170,000

Reports to: Sr. Director, Accounting & Finance

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic accounting professional as our first Assistant Controller to lead, manage and scale our accounting function and team. This is a pivotal role in laying the groundwork to in-source our accounting operations by establishing scalable accounting processes, controls and capabilities to support Nex’s rapid growth and business objectives. This role will be hands-on and instrumental in designing the team, operations, tools and systems required to create a high performing accounting function.

What You'll Do
  • Drive rigour and execution of the month end close process in coordination with an outsourced accounting firm to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Oversee and direct individuals responsible for the accounting activities and transactions of our hardware and subscription revenue streams to ensure accuracy and completeness. Deliver comprehensive reconciliations of A/R, deferred revenue, prepaids and inventory.
  • Advise and propose technical accounting applications of current and future business activities which may include and not limited to ASC-606 and ASC-985
  • Oversee multi-entity corporate structure and consolidations including maintenance and necessary changes to intercompany agreements
  • Play an instrumental role in the annual audit process
  • Establish accounting policy and procedure best practices to ensure GAAP or legal compliance and appropriate controls or segregation of duties
  • Drive continuous improvement and scale through automation or simplification
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, 2+ years of management
  • CPA or equivalent
  • Deep experience and knowledge of US GAAP, financial controls, tax and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling an accounting team and operations from the ground up
  • Experience and proficiency with leading financial/ERP systems and system implementations Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
Preferred Qualifications
  • Consumer Electronics industry experience
  • Early stage start up experience
  • Experience with Supply chain, inventory management including an Inventory Management system (IMS)
