Under broad supervision, responsible for underwriting risk for the underwriting lifecycle from submission through policy issuance, for both renewal and new business within limited authority on the Engineered Property team. Partnering with Underwriters on all aspects of the Underwriting function including: providing the necessary information to allow for UW to make prudent underwriting decisions.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities:

  • Manage a book of Strata/Condo business including new & renewal business; risk analysis, claim analysis, pricing, setting terms & conditions and negotiating with the broker;
  • Complete the underwriting thought process reports and quote business via designated tools;
  • Review and follow-up on recommendations of inspections;
  • Work within designated authority; when outside of authority refers to the next underwriting level for approval;
  • Manage all premiums including new business, renewals and endorsements within the line of business strategy and corporate guidelines;
  • Develop and manage relationships with broker partners; manage broker communications as required;
  • Collaborate with the EP underwriting team to facilitate the underwriting of new & renewal complex business; complete Nat Cat modeling;
  • Ensure service standards for document handling and workflow is appropriate and timely for the book of business managed and the business unit.


May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting including insurance products, policy processing procedures and documentation.
  • Strong time management, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Strong capability to advise and coach others.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and the ability to interact with a wide-variety of people on a daily basis in person, via telephone and email.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Typically a minimum of two to three years of related work experience.
