About the Role:
Reporting to the Director of Market Development, this role is ideal for someone who understands customs release and audit processes and is motivated to leverage that expertise in a client-facing, revenue-generating business development role.
This is an inbound, inside sales role focused on lead control, fast qualification, and closing a defined set of low-complexity, low-value opportunities. You are the first commercial point of contact for prospective clients.
You will be building strong client relationships, managing and qualifying leads, and closing deals. This role offers a dynamic, fast-paced, and commission-incentivized environment where your success is recognized and rewarded.
What You’ll Do:
- Master the Art of Lead Flow: Qualify inbound leads and match them with the right team or partner.
- Seal the Deal: Handle low-volume importers, close deals, and kick off account setups.
- Build Relationships That Matter: Connect with potential clients through discovery meetings and deliver a client-first experience.
- Maintain a Healthy Pipeline: Uncover opportunities using tools like LinkedIn and ZoomInfo to qualify leads, book meetings, generate leads and keep your pipeline active.
- Drive Measurable Results: Hit clearly defined key performance indicators and drive results by utilizing existing scripts, playbooks and CRM.
What Success Looks Like:
Success in this role is measured not just by activity, but by judgment. The right leads move forward cleanly, the wrong ones stop early, and downstream teams receive clear, well-scoped handoffs.- Quick Action: Same-day response to all leads through phone and online meetings. Qualifying and disqualifying opportunities based on fit.
- Drive Results: Conduct 15+ screenings and take 10+ meetings weekly. Manage a tight pipeline in our CRM.
- Proactive Follow-Up: Keep leads engaged and relationships growing. Supporting marketing campaigns and outreach efforts.
What You’ll Bring:
- A self-motivated, highly responsive approach to work
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organization and comfort in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Pipedrive) and tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator
- Customs and trade knowledge, with a clear understanding of how GHY’s services create value
- Sales experience is an asset, but drive, curiosity, and growth mindset matter most
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in an office or remote office environment with minimal supervision.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk (approximately 75%).
- Walking and standing as required (approximately 20%).
- Occasional interprovincial, international, rural, local, and overnight travel.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, evenings, or weekends during peak business periods as needed.
