The Role: Business Systems Analyst (Data & Analytics)
As a Business Systems Analyst, you will act as the critical bridge between business ambition and technical execution. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data & Analytics, you won’t just document requirements—you will act as a strategic advisor. You will translate complex business needs into high-performance system functionalities, ensuring that every change request and development project aligns with TMX’s long-term organizational goals.Key Accountabilities
Requirements Architecture: Lead the discovery, validation, and documentation of functional and non-functional requirements. You will facilitate high-impact stakeholder sessions to align project goals with technical feasibility.
Strategic Advisory: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on TMX business activities, providing a consultative approach to how systems can better serve our internal and external partners.
Process Optimization: Beyond documentation, you will analyze existing workflows to identify bottlenecks, applying industry best practices to streamline operations.
Technical Translation: Work hand-in-hand with software developers and architects to transform Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) into robust technical specifications.
Data & Vendor Integration: Oversee the technical onboarding and integration of third-party vendors, ensuring data integrity and long-term partnership success.
Quality Assurance & Delivery: Design comprehensive test cases and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and end-user training to ensure seamless "go-live" transitions.
Project Stewardship: Support Project Managers in defining scope, estimating timelines, and navigating risks. You will keep stakeholders informed through every phase of the project lifecycle.
The Must-Haves:
Education: University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Management.
Domain Expertise: Deep experience in Capital Markets, with a specific focus on Fixed Income products and workflows.
Technical Stack: Proficiency in SQL and Python. Hands-on experience with modern data environments including Snowflake, AWS, and Spark.
Communication: The ability to translate "geek" to "Greek"—conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders with clarity and poise.
Analytical Rigor: A meticulous eye for detail and the ability to deconstruct complex business problems into actionable, phased project steps.
Drive: You are a self-starter who thrives in a multi-tasking environment and takes full ownership of projects from inception to completion.
The Nice-to-Haves:
Industry Credentials: Progression toward or completion of CFA, CSC, CPH, or TTC certifications.
Advanced Analytics: Experience working with Big Data technologies and Machine Learning (ML) models.
Tooling: Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Lucidchart for workflow modeling and project tracking.
Salary Range: 70,000/year -80,000/year CAD
