Overview:
A Claims Examiner is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and processing insurance claims submitted by policyholders. They ensure that claims are valid, authentic, and comply with the terms of the insurance policy. Claims Examiners work closely with adjusters, agents, customers, and other stakeholders in the claims process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze insurance claims for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility.
- Investigate claims by gathering relevant information from policy documents, claim forms, medical records, and other supporting materials.
- Communicate with claimants, agents, adjusters, medical professionals, and other involved parties to clarify information and resolve discrepancies.
- Determine claim validity and make recommendations regarding claim acceptance, denial, or further investigation.
- Calculate benefit amounts and ensure claims adhere to company policies, legal guidelines, and industry regulations.
- Document decisions, maintain records, and prepare reports on claim outcomes.
- Assist in detecting fraudulent or suspicious claims and refer cases for further investigation as needed.
- Provide guidance to policyholders regarding claims procedures, status updates, and required documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments to handle complex or escalated cases.
- Stay up to date with changes in insurance laws, regulations, and industry practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (business, finance, insurance, or similar) preferred.
- Prior experience in claims processing, insurance, or customer service is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with insurance software and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.

- The salary range for this position is between $70,000.00 CAD - $100,000.00 CAD
- This is an addition to current full time staff.
