The Group Sales Manager leads customer service and operations for merchandise departments, managing staff, ensuring financial goals, and enhancing sales.
Summary:
The Group Sales Manager is accountable for growing the business and people within one or more specialized merchandise departments inside a Bass Pro Shops or Cabela’s retail location. The GSM will lead world class customer service and operational delivery by developing and engaging Outfitters daily in all facets of department operations including, merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, sales enhancements, staff selection and development.
Responsibilities:
- Supports a strong commitment to world class customer service and ensures a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
- Meet or exceed all financial plans.
- Execute all sales events plans.
- Acts as Manager on Duty and opens / closes the store.
- Maintain planograms.
- Maintain all standards of cleanliness and safe work.
- Staff the departments with “service” oriented Outfitters; participates in interviewing and selection, coordinates training, reviews and evaluates team member performance, prepares weekly work schedules, coaches and motivates Outfitters to promote positive customer relations and a productive team-oriented work environment.
- Resolves customer and Outfitter issues.
- Carries out management functions in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years in retail management with responsibility for sales and merchandising.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
- Ability to read and analyze relevant reports and data.
- Ability to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to understand a variety of other financial, compliance, workplace safety and/or technical information.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from others.
- Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Strong knowledge of/ability to learn with various office technology and software applications which relate to a retail business.
- Ability to obtain a Possession and Acquisition License (P.A.L.).
