We’re looking for a Compliance Officer to support JPMorgan’s Payments business in Canada. In this role, you’ll work with business and support functions to help ensure payments activities are delivered in a way that meets regulatory expectations and internal policies.
You’ll translate regulatory and policy requirements into practical guidance, identify and escalate emerging issues, and help teams design controls that work in real-world processes.
Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Regulatory Compliance Management Program through policy development, risk assessment design and implementation, control environment enhancements, and senior management reporting and escalation of issues identified through internal reviews and regulatory examinations.
  • Provide compliance guidance and expert regulatory advice to Payments Canada stakeholders on new initiatives, product changes, process updates, and client solutions, including advising on the Canadian Bank Act and related laws, rules, and regulations for domestic and cross-border business activities.
  • Support risk assessments (new products/changes, periodic reviews) by identifying key compliance risks and helping define mitigants and controls.
  • Help design and maintain controls that support compliance with relevant Canadian requirements and internal standards (e.g., monitoring, approvals, recordkeeping).
  • Review and challenge issues, incidents, and operational events, support root-cause analysis and remediation plans.
  • Partner on governance activities such as committee materials, regulatory updates, policy and procedure alignment, and reporting.
  • Contribute to regulatory readiness for examinations, inquiries, and audits by coordinating responses and evidence in partnership with the business.
  • Drive training and awareness by turning complex requirements into clear guidance and simple playbooks for front-line teams.
  • You’ll help shape how a critical payments business operates—balancing innovation and execution with strong governance. This is a high-visibility role with meaningful stakeholder interaction and opportunities to grow across payments and broader compliance coverage.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Experience in compliance, risk management, legal/regulatory advisory, or controls within financial services (payments experience is a strong plus but not required).
  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams and influencing outcomes through clear written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to interpret requirements and apply them pragmatically to products, operations, and end-to-end processes.
  • Strong judgment with the ability to identify material issues, escalate appropriately, and propose workable solutions.
  • Organized, delivery-oriented and can manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Relevant experience in a regulated industry and/or supervisory environment, with a proven ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and risk management expectations, with the ability to translate requirements into practical, risk-based guidance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with payments products, rails, and client segments (e.g., wires, ACH, real-time payments, cash management, correspondent banking, fintech partnerships, and FX), or comparable transaction banking domains.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian financial services regulatory environment and supervisory expectations, including OSFI guidance, market conduct requirements, privacy obligations, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience supporting change initiatives (new product launches, process redesign, technology transformation).
  • Exposure to operational risk events, issue management, quality assurance testing of controls, or compliance monitoring programs.
  • Proven experience building and effectively implementing risk and compliance programs or frameworks, comfortable with ambiguity and building new capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred; advanced degree and/or relevant professional designation also preferred.
  • Strong presence and ability to influence various stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive ideas forward independently and challenge others constructively.
