About this opportunity:

The Risk & Insurance department is seeking a Confirmations & Counterparty Management Analyst. Reporting to the Manager, Confirmations & Counterparty Management, this position is responsible for managing commodity trade confirmations, counterparty set-up and maintaining system/master data across commodities such as crude oil, natural gas, NGLs and asphalt. This role supports segregated trade confirmation duties critical to Downstream commercial activities and involves regular collaboration with teams including Trading/Marketing, Contracts, Legal, Credit, Accounting, Treasury, Vendor Services and Risk Compliance.

The successful candidate will deliver exceptional customer service to internal/external counterparties and stakeholders, while also supporting the ongoing improvement and enhancement of operational processes and controls.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage daily commodity trade confirmations using a variety of energy trading and risk management systems (ETRM) platforms.

  • Ensure trade confirmations align with commercial contracts, are recorded in the system and approved by the appropriate signing authority level (as required).

  • Distribute finalized trade confirmations to third parties; review incoming documentation for discrepancies; follow-up with traders, counterparties and brokers as required.

  • Maintain confirmation records and support document management in compliance with corporate policies, internal controls and management system processes.

  • Conduct initial and ongoing Know Your Customer (KYC) screening, manage customer set-up and ensure trading and ERP systems are updated with accurate counterparty data.

  • Coordinate with Vendor Services to request Vendor set-ups in electronic payment system (SAP).

  • Conduct timely trade confirmation reviews in alignment with Market Risk policies/standards, support internal/external audits and report potential incidents or breaches as required.

  • Maintain current business process documentation, including workflows, narratives and desk procedures.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • Post-Secondary education in either business, finance or legal is required

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience providing support to commodity trading or marketing teams.

  • A solid understanding of trade confirmation processes is considered an asset.

  • Working knowledge of ETRM platforms (e.g. Egistix, OMS, Allegro, RightAngle), SAP, Content Serve, Sharepoint, data analytics, Power Apps and Forms is considered an asset.
