About the Opportunity

Orium is seeking a Senior Consultant, E-commerce Strategy with deep expertise in digital commerce solutions to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your experience in e-commerce strategy, technology, and operations to guide enterprise clients in designing and implementing best-in-class composable commerce solutions. As a trusted advisor, you will help clients align their e-commerce strategies with business objectives, lead collaborative workshops, recommend and evaluate platforms, and ensure seamless execution of digital transformation initiatives.

This position offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in composable commerce platforms (such as commerce engines, CMS, search & discovery tooling, and digital experience platforms) to drive meaningful business outcomes. You will play a key role in shaping composable e-commerce strategies, optimizing digital commerce ecosystems, and establishing yourself as a thought leader in the industry.

Responsibilities

Project and Client Responsibilities:

  • Act as a functional specialist and subject matter expert (SME) on e-commerce strategy, platform selection, and implementation projects.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, including working with executive stakeholders,  building trust and facilitating discussions to deeply understand their business needs.
  • Lead discovery sessions to define project scope, uncover business requirements, and proactively address platform capabilities and limitations.
  • Facilitate workshops and on-sites to align on project KPIs, roadmap planning, and change management strategies.
  • Develop key client deliverables such as functional requirements, solution roadmaps, implementation plans, and backlogs.
  • Lead executive stakeholder meetings and support solutioning discussions during project execution.

Sales Support and Thought Leadership:

  • Provide SME support for e-commerce sales opportunities, contributing to proposals, project estimations, and client presentations.
  • Research and refine methodologies for modern e-commerce ecosystems, staying updated with certifications in key composable platforms.
  • Collaborate with technology partners (e.g., commercetools, Contentful, Algolia, Bloomreach, etc.) to develop joint thought leadership initiatives such as whitepapers, webinars, and industry events.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in e-commerce platforms and digital commerce ecosystems, with experience in platform implementation, integration, and optimization.
  • Prior experience working at a retailer in an e-commerce, digital operations, or technology role, with a strong understanding of omnichannel strategies and customer experience best practices.
  • Expertise in consulting and discovery—skilled in defining requirements, leading workshops, and helping clients navigate project scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Several years of experience in product and/or project management, ideally within a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with executive stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, with experience managing senior-level client relationships and facilitating strategic discussions.
  • Bonus: Experience with composable commerce, headless CMS, or specific platforms such as commercetools, Contentful, or Algolia.

Is this Role a Fit for You?

The Senior Consultant, E-commerce Strategy role emphasizes exceptional client management, technical expertise, and consulting skills. You’ll find fulfillment in this role if you:

  • You are passionate about client engagement. Driven by a commitment to exceed expectations and deliver exceptional value. Building meaningful relationships with clients empowers you to shape strategies and contribute to successful outcomes.
  • You have an interest in making the business work. You’re an entrepreneur at heart. You see your craft as a tool that can solve business challenges. You’re willing to wear different hats to move the business forward.
  • Delight in making things. You thrill at the concept of helping teams deliver a solution, not merely a strategy or concept. You’ve got a solid handle on your technical domain.
  • Find passion in learning new things. You relish every opportunity to move things forward with your can-do attitude and you eagerly share your entrepreneurial spark. You like depth, but if you only have time to skim the surface, you can get up to speed quickly and think critically about what you’ve learned.
  • Thoroughly enjoy collaborative work. You enjoy knowledge sharing in all directions and you geek out at the chance to improve skills across disciplines for you and your teammates. You genuinely care about what makes people tick, and you’re committed to helping others succeed by putting the team’s needs first.

Benefits and Perks

  • Enjoy a flexible schedule of full-time hours. As a remote-first organization, we care about the work you do, but it’s up to you to choose where and how you do it.
  • Explore ongoing opportunities for professional development: training, conferences, certifications, and in-house peer mentorship.
  • Experiment with new techniques, wear multiple hats and learn about new disciplines.
  • Pursue independent projects, explore new ideas, and challenge yourself in your field with dedicated “Awesome time” (self-directed professional development) annually and quarterly training budgets.
  • On top of standard medical and dental coverage, we offer benefits like a parental leave top-up plan, an EAP, mental health coverage, virtual healthcare and a minimum vacation policy.
  • Our Toronto HQ is a modern, ergonomic space complete with hoteling standing/sitting desks available and an open-concept social atmosphere.
  • Additional perks are available including in-house mindfulness sessions, remote group get-togethers, and more!
  • The Canada Base Salary Range for this role is $110,000 - $165,000. Orium lists this range in good faith, reflecting the expected base salary for this role in the specified locations as of this posting. The pay offered will depend on several relevant factors, such as education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, location, and business needs. Please note, this range does not include any benefits that may be included as part of the total compensation package.

Performance and Growth Expectations

We emphasize accountability for outcomes, but autonomy in activities. Your work will be measured across a number of data points (peer, leader & project team feedback) and will also be measured on the basis of client and user satisfaction. Your growth path is in your hands— you’ll have ongoing meetings with your leader to help determine your path, but your progress will be based on what you hope to achieve and how you choose to access the resources available to you.

Committed to an Inclusive Workplace

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment as we build a workforce that reflects the diversity of the community in which we live, including those with disabilities. We are dedicated to providing accommodations in all parts of the hiring process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code. If you require any accommodation, we will work with you to meet your needs.

Committed to Social and Environmental Stewardship

Orium is committed to promoting and working towards a more socially and environmentally sustainable future. All employees are expected to make decisions and take actions in relation to their role and work that follow through on this commitment.
