The Opportunity – Content Marketing Manager

As a Content Marketing Manager, you will create on-brand copy and content across a number of media (long-form, blog, social, video, etc.) that drive results, challenge the status quo, and demonstrate empathy for the customer. Reporting to the Senior Content Marketing Manager, you will use copywriting, content, social strategy, and execution to solve problems and identify opportunities in Marketing that are in service of the goals of the business. You will be part of a multidisciplinary collaborative marketing team working together toward the same business and creative goals.

NOTE: This role can be worked remotely from the above location.
What You'll Do as a Content Marketing Manager

  • Learn, understand, and internalize who FreshBooks’ customers and potential FreshBooks’ customers (our market) are, what motivates their behaviors, and how to communicate with them through your deliverables.
  • Stay up to date in your field and with our competitive environment. What is going on with other businesses? What content marketing and social messaging are they putting out?
  • Create assets including blog posts, case studies, eBooks, social media posts, newsletters, videos, infographics, and other thought leadership content to grow top-of-funnel leads and brand awareness.
  • Leverage search data, industry best practices, and SEO tools to inform strategy and develop the content calendar.
  • Ensure writing style and messaging are developed and maintained with a customer-centric point of view.
  • Advise content creators (freelancers) on brand consistency across content.
  • Assign and manage workflow of delivery with external freelancers.

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • 3+ years of experience in building content strategy and content creation.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to create and shape verticalized messaging.
  • Experience executing on content for a variety of content types (e.g., blog posts, eBooks, case studies, video scripts, newsletters).
  • Ability to conduct market, competitor and persona research to gather insights and assess market opportunities.
  • Proficiency in crafting compelling and effective value propositions and messaging.
  • Strong writing, communication, presentation development, and delivery skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams with varying levels of direct or indirect reporting structure.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Google Suite, Jira/Confluence, WordPress, Ahrefs, Surfer, Airtable, etc.
