The Opportunity
Our AI Enablement and Data team is looking to add a dedicated individual in Calgary to support our growing enterprise data platform and analytics needs.
We are seeking an intermediate Data Engineer who has solid knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Python coding skills. This individual has the proven skills to build and maintain data pipelines and lakehouse solutions that deliver trusted data products for business stakeholders.
What you’ll do
Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Pipelines)
Write Python and PySpark code for data ingestion, transformation, and validation
Support data modeling, optimization, and ELT processes for analytics and BI use cases
Collaborate with team members to gather requirements and implement technical solutions
Apply data quality checks, monitoring, and basic governance practices
Assist in troubleshooting pipelines and optimizing for performance and cost
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in data engineering or related field
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric workloads (e.g., Lakehouse, Notebooks, Dataflows)
Proficiency in Python programming, including PySpark for data processing
Experience with SQL, data warehousing, and cloud-based ELT/ETL tools (e.g., AWS Glue)
Familiarity with Git for version control
Preferred Qualifications
Experience implementing medallion architecture in Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, including bronze raw data ingestion, silver cleansed/transformed data, and gold curated business-ready datasets
Proficiency in PySpark for incremental processing, data quality validation, and optimization across medallion layers using Fabric notebooks and pipelines
Familiarity with Delta Lake formats, partitioning strategies, and Z-order indexing to enhance query performance and cost efficiency in Fabric workloads
Knowledge of Fabric shortcuts for multi-cloud data federation and integration with OneLake
Exposure to data governance tools in Fabric, such as Purview integration for lineage, metadata management, and compliance across medallion layers
Experience with Fabric monitoring, cost management, and automation via pipelines
Background in CI/CD for Fabric artifacts using Git integration and infrastructure-as-code for reproducible environments
Prior work with Power BI or Fabric reports consuming gold-layer data for self-service analytics
