The Data Products Specialist is responsible for designing, building, and operating advanced artificial intelligence solutions—including AI agents and decision-support systems—that capitalize on high-value business opportunities or solve high-value business problems.
This role focuses on applying machine learning, AI, and agent-based architectures to asset-intensive environments, enabling smarter operations, improved reliability, optimized capital deployment, and better decision-making at scale.
Working closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and product teams, the Data Products Specialist translates complex operational challenges into production-ready AI systems. These systems may include autonomous or semi-autonomous agents that reason over enterprise data, invoke tools and APIs, and integrate seamlessly into existing workflows and platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, build, and deploy AI/ML solutions, including:
Machine learning models
Generative AI and large language model (LLM)–based solutions
AI agents that use tools, APIs, and workflows to execute business tasks
Develop agent-based systems that:
Reason over structured and unstructured enterprise data
Interact with data platforms, operational systems, and external services
Support or automate decisions in operations, engineering, maintenance, finance, or capital projects
Implement solutions using modern AI platforms and cloud ecosystems (e.g., Databricks, cloud-native ML services, Copilot-style integrations, AWS-based architectures)
Partner with business and operational teams to:
Frame problems suitable for AI/ML or agent-based approaches
Define success metrics tied to business outcomes (cost, risk, uptime, throughput, safety)
Ensure AI solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and production-ready, following MLOps and software development best practices
Perform rigorous testing, validation, and evaluation of models and agents to ensure they meet performance, safety, and business requirements
Monitor deployed AI systems and agents, continuously optimizing performance, cost, and relevance as data and conditions evolve
Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise systems, analytics platforms, and user-facing tools
Stay current on advancements in AI, ML, generative AI, and agent frameworks, and assess their applicability to real-world business problems
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, software engineering, or related practical experience
Work Experience
15+ years of experience in AI/ML development, data science, or advanced analytics
5+ years designing and implementing production AI/ML solutions
Demonstrated experience building solutions that move beyond experimentation into operational use
Experience working in or supporting asset-intensive industries such as:
Energy, utilities, mining, manufacturing, transportation, or infrastructure
Capital projects, operations, reliability, maintenance, or supply chain environments
Experience with big data and distributed computing platforms
Exposure to deploying AI solutions in regulated, safety-critical, or high-reliability contexts is strongly preferred
Technical Skills
Strong foundation in machine learning techniques:
Supervised and unsupervised learning
Deep learning
Reinforcement learning and decision optimization (where applicable)
Experience with generative AI and LLM-based systems, including:
Prompt development
Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
Tool-using or agent-based architectures
Proficiency in Python and experience with supporting languages (e.g., SQL, JavaScript; others as relevant)
Hands-on experience with ML frameworks and modern ML toolchains
Experience working within cloud platforms and AI services (e.g., AWS, Azure), including model deployment and monitoring
Familiarity with data management concepts:
Data pipelines, integration patterns, feature development
Data warehousing, lakehouse, or similar architectures
Understanding of MLOps, CI/CD, model lifecycle management, and production monitoring
Ability to work with large, complex datasets and enterprise data sources
Experience delivering results and business outcomes in enterprise environments
Professional Skills
Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability
Comfortable operating at the intersection of business problems, data, and technology
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executives
Collaborative mindset, with experience working in cross-functional, product-oriented teams
Experience mentoring and coaching other technical resources
