As a Database Consultant Lead within PNC’s Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA; Cleveland, OH; Birmingham, AL or Dallas, TX. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.

It’s an individual contributor role and primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:
Candidates will require prior experience with the following:
- Act as a SQL/Server and/or Oracle database architect, design tables, indexes, stored procedures.
- Oracle query optimizer, able to write efficient PL/SQL. Create and fine tune indexes to improve performance. Manage large data and optimize tables as needed.
- Ability to import large text files efficiently, familiarity with Informatica, SQL*Loader, and SQLplus
- Ability to build automation in Linux to handle repeatable processes. Ability to write Linux shell programs to manage automation.
- Experience in database upgrades and migrations
- Excellent proven communication with key stakeholders, as this role would require coordination with multiple business and technology partners.
The ideal candidate will have additional experience in the following:
- Experience in programming in either Java, .NET or Python to use in report generation, automation, and improve performance is desired
- Experience in other Data Technologies and Architecture is desired (Big Data/Hadoop, Data Fabric/Mesh, Object Stores, etc). Leverage this to define future vision and architecture.
- Experience leading a team, mentoring, delegating tasks, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative environment.
-Candidate with Financial/Banking industry knowledge/experience specifically in the area of Market Risk and/or Fixed Income and/or Capital Markets would be highly preferred
Job Description
- Provides technical leadership for the IT community on the selection, design, development and integration of multi-platform, distributed or relational databases.
- Provides senior level consulting through identifying and solving complex and highly critical database issues across multiple platforms and computing environments.
- Leads in the structural design of a database according to various system requirements.
- Oversees and performs database installation and configuration functions for database parameters by using advanced database tools and technologies.
- Develops data architectures and DB management policies and standards; guarantees quality and performance integrity of databases.

Work ExperienceRoles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable.
