We are currently seeking a Database & IT Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the full lifecycle of database systems, from deployment and security to performance optimization and documentation.  In addition to core database administration, you will leverage a developer’s toolkit (C#, ASP.Net) and a broad technical background in client/server administration and infrastructure.  This is a high-impact, hands-on role in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values innovation, agility and teamwork.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage database systems, ensuring optimal performance, data integrity and security.
  • Manage Oracle and SQL RDBMS (patching, backups, recovery), develop database objects, and provide performance tuning.
  • Develop database objects and scripts in alignment with project requirements and performance goals.
  • Provide technical support for client/server systems, including both cloud-based and on premise server environments.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, web services, SharePoint forms and reporting tools such as Splunk or Rapid7.
  • Oversee data warehousing and analysis services (SSAS) to support business intelligence efforts.
  • Utilize development tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, ASP.Net, and MCV to enhance database functionality and system interfaces.
  • Collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to design and modify backend databases for seamless application integration.
  • Work with version control systems (TFS/GIT) to maintain and track changes in application and database components.
  • Develop and maintain detailed records of system configurations, installations, and issue resolutions.
  • Establish and enforce database and infrastructure standards, including naming conventions, change control protocols, and optimization techniques.
  • Provide troubleshooting and help desk support to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Management multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, team orientated environment.
  • Communicate effectively with cross functional teams to ensure alignment on technical goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in database engineering, administration and IT infrastructure management.
  • Expertise in Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) solutions, such as Oracle, Postgres, or similar technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux command-line tools for database administration activities.
  • Proficiency in server administration (cloud and on premise) and network infrastructure.
  • Experience with SharePoint Farms and O365 and other cloud technologies.
  • Strong development skills with Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, ASP.Net, MVC, and MS SQL.
  • Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies for database management.
  • Working knowledge of version control systems like TFS/GIT.
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as Splunk, Rapid7, or other similar platforms.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools and analytics platforms such as SSAS is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and resolve complex technical issue effectively.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check and obtain/maintain a Government of Canada security clearance and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods.

This position is eligible for consideration of a hybrid work arrangement with set onsite days.
