YOUR IMPACT

As UX Design Manager, you will build and lead Redwood's UX design function, starting with a team of 2 designers focused on RunMyJobs. You'll establish design excellence, drive the creation of our design system, and ensure our enterprise automation platform delivers exceptional user experiences. You'll work closely with product management and engineering leadership to embed UX best practices throughout the product development process while managing and mentoring your design team.

Team Leadership & Management
  • Build, manage, and mentor a team of 2 UX designers (with potential for growth)
  • Provide clear direction, allocate work, and ensure quality of design deliverables
  • Conduct 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and career development planning
  • Make personnel decisions (hiring, performance management, compensation recommendations)
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing design culture aligned with Redwood's values
  • Remove blockers and create conditions for team success
  • Balance team workload across product priorities and initiatives
Design Strategy & Execution
  • Drive end-to-end UX design for RunMyJobs features and workflows
  • Establish design processes that integrate seamlessly with agile product development
  • Champion user-centered design practices across product and engineering teams
  • Partner with product management to define feature requirements and success criteria
  • Ensure design work meets quality standards and ships on schedule
  • Contribute hands-on design work as needed to support team delivery
Design System & Standards
  • Lead the creation of Redwood's design system from the ground up
  • Evaluate existing design artifacts and evolve them into a cohesive system
  • Establish design standards, component libraries, and interaction patterns
  • Define design tooling strategy and drive adoption across the organization
  • Ensure accessibility, consistency, and scalability in design solutions
  • Partner with engineering on design system implementation and maintenance
User Research & Insights
  • Establish user research practices and integrate insights into product decisions
  • Build empathy for enterprise users across product and engineering teams
  • Plan and conduct research activities (interviews, usability tests, field studies)
  • Synthesize research findings into actionable recommendations
  • Partner with customer success and sales to gather user feedback
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with product management and engineering leadership on roadmap planning
  • Present design work and strategy to executive stakeholders
  • Collaborate with marketing and customer success on design-related initiatives
  • Represent UX perspective in product, technical, and strategic discussions
  • Leverage AI tools daily to enhance team productivity, design exploration, and workflow efficiency
  • Establish AI usage best practices for the design team

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years of UX design experience with 2+ years managing designers
  • Proven track record of building or scaling design teams and establishing design practices
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating hands-on design excellence across research, interaction, and visual design
  • Deep experience designing complex B2B SaaS or enterprise software products
  • Experience building or contributing to design systems at scale
  • Daily hands-on experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Midjourney, or similar) to enhance individual and team productivity
  • Expert proficiency with modern design tools (Figma required; experience evaluating and selecting design tooling)
  • Strong understanding of agile product development and collaborating with engineering teams
  • Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on design work with people management
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive audiences
  • Experience with user research methodologies and translating insights into design decisions
  • Track record of shipping high-quality products in cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience designing automation, workflow, or developer tools
  • Background in enterprise software domains (ERP, finance, IT operations, DevOps)
  • Experience establishing AI-powered design workflows for teams
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies and working closely with engineers on implementation
  • Experience with design operations (DesignOps) and scaling design practices
  • Published work, conference talks, or thought leadership in UX field
  • Experience working in product-led organizations with strong engineering cultures
  • Track record of recruiting and developing design talent
