Strathcona is presently seeking an experienced full time Development Engineer to join our Lloydminster Thermal team in Calgary. Reporting to the Team Lead, Development, the development engineer will be responsible for formulating and executing asset development plans for Greenfield Growth in Saskatchewan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead early-stage definition and positioning for future greenfield development projects.

  • Advance technical readiness of greenfield projects and position for internal sanction.

  • Collaborate with provincial utilities on optimized infrastructure plans for new core areas.

  • Build and maintain detailed full life cash flow models for greenfield assets.

  • Develop Raw Water supply strategies for new core areas of greenfield development.

  • Lead planning and execution of annual capital program.

  • Ensure deployed development capital meets/exceeds internal financial expectations.

  • Prioritize and optimize development capital to maximize asset value.

  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-term plans for the division.

  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline team to identify, evaluate, prioritize, plan, and execute long range plans.

  • Lead drill readiness, working with key stakeholders for the selection, licensing, and scheduling of new wells.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 7 years of development experience, accompanied by expertise in thermal heavy oil reservoir, exploitation, production, or facilities engineering.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proven technical expertise in one or more areas of reservoir engineering, exploitation engineering, production engineering, or facilities engineering.

  • Versatile approach of working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Excellent prioritization and time management ability to deliver results while working under deadlines.

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of oil & gas development along with project/field economics and cashflow modeling.

  • Proficient in the use of Accumap/Geoscout and Microsoft Office.

Other Details:

  • Occasional travel to the field may be required.
