Director of Operations - Canada

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is seeking a Director – Canada Operations to serve as the senior leader for KBR’s Canada business, responsible for driving regional growth, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring operational excellence across project execution and business operations. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Integrated Solutions Americas, this role provides strategic leadership for KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) operations in Canada, expanding market presence, developing local talent, and advancing long-term business objectives within the energy sector. The Senior Director partners with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering and project solutions, foster sustainable growth, and position KBR as a trusted partner in the evolving energy landscape.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Grow and lead KBR's Canada operations and serve as the primary representative for the Canada business.
  • Execute the Canada growth strategy aligned with KBR's Americas business objectives.
  • Build and maintain executive relationships with key clients, partners, industry organizations, and government stakeholders.
  • Lead local business development activities, pursuit strategy, and strategic account engagement.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing Canada organization.
  • Provide operational leadership for all Canada projects, ensuring safe, profitable, and successful execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, commercial, and engineering requirements.
  • Develop annual operating plans, budgets, resource forecasts, and growth plans.
  • Foster collaboration between Canada operations and KBR's Americas and global delivery centers.
  • Promote KBR's culture of safety, integrity, quality, and operational excellence.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in project management, engineering, construction, operations, or related industries.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in senior leadership, executive management, or general management roles with responsibility for large organizations, business units, or major capital projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, complex engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational programs or projects.
  • Proven track record managing complex stakeholder relationships, including clients, joint venture partners, contractors, regulatory agencies, and executive leadership teams.
  • Strong commercial, financial, and business management expertise, including P&L accountability, contract administration, strategic planning, and organizational performance management.
  • Advanced knowledge of project execution, project controls, governance, risk management, and commercial strategies.
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities with demonstrated success developing high-performing teams, leading organizational change, and driving strategic objectives.
  • Excellent client relationship, negotiation, influencing, and decision-making skills, with the ability to serve as the primary executive interface between the client and company.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage executive leadership, boards, clients, and project teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex, high-value environments, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining focus on safety, quality, operational excellence, and successful business outcomes.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Progressive leadership experience within EPC, EPCM, or major project delivery organizations.
  • Strong understanding of Canada's energy industry, including SAGD, oil sands, brownfield facilities, and major capital projects.
  • Established relationships with operators, contractors, and industry stakeholders within Western Canada.
  • Demonstrated success developing organizations, growing client relationships, and leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in business development, project delivery, and operational leadership.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master's in Engineering, or related field) preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PE, or equivalent are preferred
