The Role
We’re looking for a passionate Document Automation Specialist to join our dynamic Product Support team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in helping clients automate corporate legal document generation through coding, training, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
Working with Athennian’s cutting-edge Document Automation engine, integrating with Docxtemplater and document-based NoSQL databases while collaborating across teams, driving process improvements, and sharing knowledge will be key aspects of your work.

Key Responsibilities:
- Corporate Legal Document Automation & Management
- Code & develop corporate legal document templates (e.g., registers, resolutions, agreements, government forms) using Athennian's custom syntax.
- Manage & optimize custom and standard-coded templates to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Leverage document coding to dynamically populate legal documents, inserting relevant clauses and data to ensure full alignment with legal compliance requirements.
- Customer Support & Training
- Troubleshoot & resolve document automation and coding-related inquiries, ensuring seamless implementation.
- Deliver training sessions & resources to empower customers in coding and maintaining templates for long-term success.
- Act as a key consultant, assisting internal teams and clients with document automation-related challenges.
- Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Optimize automation workflows to align with customer needs and ensure compliance with best practices.
- Conduct demos of templates, highlight key value points in the document generation framework, and contribute to product enhancement discussions.
- Identify automation opportunities within the document generation framework to enhance user experience and drive value across the company.
- User Stories, Bug Reporting & Issue Resolution
- File & track feature improvement requests and software bugs, collaborating with developers on resolutions.
- Test & review fixes to ensure they meet the expected results before deployment.
- Manage document coding tickets, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Thought Leadership & Knowledge Sharing
- Serve as a go-to expert on document automation best practices.
- Encourage continuous learning by sharing knowledge, mentoring colleagues, and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Take ownership of projects, assisting in planning, scoping, and scheduling key deliverables.
What You Bring:
- Familiarity with any type of coding languages or understanding core programming logic.
- Proficiency with advanced features of MS Word, including mail merge, macros, styles, templates, and PDF document editing/automation tools. (+3 years)
- Must have experience working in the legal industry, legal tech, or with legal data, documents, or workflows in corporate, tax, or other legal sectors. (+3 years)
- Ability to swiftly adapt to emerging technologies and excel in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address potential obstacles before they escalate.
- Ownership of projects from inception through execution, with flexibility to take on diverse roles as needed.
- Confidence in making swift, informed decisions to maintain momentum and drive progress.
- A collaborative spirit, actively sharing knowledge and fostering team development.
Location
We have embraced a distributed model of working to reach the best talent in the world. While some roles may require proximity to our Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver offices, roles based outside our office locations can be remote in Canada and the US.
