The Opportunity
This is a key role within the Training and Development team, and we are looking for someone with the knowledge and passion to design and develop engaging and effective on-line learning solutions. The Instructional Designer/Developer will build strong relationships within Manulife while collaborating with subject matter authorities from across the organization. The audience (advisors) we support will require the successful candidate to be proficient with online delivery methods. They will need to be self-motivated, resourceful and thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
Our ideal candidate will be client-focused with an educational background in Adult Education/Training. The successful candidate must have a strong capacity for retaining information and be very capable of working independently.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct needs analysis using sound design principles to identify and define training needs
- Design and script detailed storyboards for the development of interactive online learning modules
- Work closely and collaboratively with Instructional Designers and Curriculum Developers to design storyboards, determine the best delivery method, and share vision
- Design training solutions that meet the needs of the adult learner, writing and editing content; testing solutions for readiness and usability
- Develop engaging learning materials using a variety of tools and products
- Provide expert direction on the visual design of a storyboard or other learning resources
- Build e-learning courses that are professional, interactive, and creative, while applying standard processes in adult learning and instructional design
- Apply AODA requirements to e-learning programs
- Analyze test results, evaluations, and reports to determine trends and respond with follow-up training/information where required. Identify and troubleshoot moderate to complex problems
- Implement the CE Learning strategy
- Implement the project pipeline strategy
- Collaborate with and support fellow Instructional Designers and Curriculum Developers
- Work closely with internal clients to understand business and individual training needs
- Build strong working relationships with key team members to anticipate needs and build engaging learning solutions
- Develop project schedules and agree upon delivery dates for projects, including detailed client communication
- Proactively seek feedback from clients to continuously evolve and improve services provided individually and by the broader T&D team
- Remain current in industry innovations, design standards and copyright laws
- Complete clerical duties, routine documentation, and administrative tasks
- Formulate formative and summative assessments through reviewing audio recordings, presentations, and scripted content

Salary range is expected to be between
$57,675.00 CAD - $96,125.00 CAD
