About the Role

As an Engineering Manager at GlossGenius, you are responsible for growing, managing, and mentoring a team of engineers within our product engineering organization. As an engineering leader, you will collaborate closely with both engineering and product leaders and own the technical strategy and roadmap of your team.

We've built a great product that empowers tens of thousands of solopreneurs and business owners to run and grow their businesses efficiently - customers love our product (4.7+ stars in the App Store!). 

What You'll Do

  • Prioritize, plan and direct the work and roadmap of the Engineering/Research & Development​ teams
  • Mentor and manage a team of software developers and engineers
  • Run regular software product engineering meetings to ensure alignment across cross-functional teams
  • Implement new and effective engineering processes that emphasize quality and progress on key product initiatives
  • Create and maintain project schedules and procedural guidelines to drive your team's tasks to completion
  • Consult with teams, clients and parent company to review system needs, project timelines, software specifications, and budgets
  • Provide both technical and product leadership, empowering your team to deliver high quality work
  • Source, review and interview qualified candidates, including partnering with the recruiting team and participating in recruitment rounds at Ontario universities to contribute to the exponential growth of the software engineering team.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with 4+ years of experience as a people manager
  • Expertise in Ruby programming language, ReactJs, JavaScript, Typescript, PostgreSQL
  • Proven ability to collaborate with product/program managers, designers, and peers to build plans, set expectations, and successfully deliver new 0 to 1 products and features
  • A strong business acumen and customer-centric mindset, backed by data analytics skills.
  • Ability to recruit and build high-performing teams 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Master's degree or equivalent in computer science or information systems and technologies or relevant field
