Job Summary:
As an Associate on our Hedge Fund Services (HFS) Data Analytics team, you will play a pivotal part in managing HFS Fund Accounting Operational activities and serve as the primary point of contact for resolving complex issues. You will collaborate closely with the AFS line of business, including Fund Accounting, Internal Audit, Private Equity, and Real Estate, leveraging their technical expertise in ETL tools and business intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of hedge fund accounting operations, including third-party reconciliation, trade processing, COACs, pricing, and valuations, ensuring accurate and timely deliverables to fund accounting partners.
- Utilize advanced ETL tools (e.g., Xceptor, Alteryx) to streamline data processing and enhance business intelligence capabilities.
- Monitor daily operations to meet accuracy and timeliness targets, and establish remediation plans as needed.
- Develop and maintain robust controls and procedures, recommending process modifications when necessary.
- Manage data files for third-party reconciliation, ensuring accuracy through offline analysis, and oversee data flows.
- Conduct notional, cash balance, and position reconciliations, and map broker data via Xceptor.
- Lead the transition of new brokers to the HFS platform.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fund accounting teams, clients, brokers, and operations.
- Efficiently manage and address stakeholder queries both upstream and downstream.
- Resolve exceptional problems and take on special projects or tasks as assigned.
- Identify potential areas for further automation and efficiency improvements.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Extensive experience in fund accounting operations at a senior level.
- In-depth knowledge of complex financial instruments in NAV and NAV drivers, with a particular focus on alternative asset classes.
- Strong client management skills and ability to build key relationships.
- Team player with a professional, proactive approach and positive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Provide leadership and guidance on technical issues, particularly in ETL and business intelligence.
- Consultative approach with business teams to establish plans and achieve goals.
- Strong organizational skills with a drive for impeccable quality.
- Flexibility to work across different time zones if required.
- Proven experience in team management and leadership.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of operations experience in the Fund Accounting industry, with a focus on technical skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on business intelligence.
- Extensive experience with ETL tools (e.g., Xceptor, Alteryx) and business intelligence platforms.
- Excellent understanding and working knowledge of reconciliation processes.
- Experience working internationally and cross-culturally.
- Comprehensive knowledge of derivatives, OTC products, and alternative asset classes.
