Build and scale the finance function: own core accounting, reporting, close processes, internal controls, compliance, and finance systems. Improve AP/AR, treasury, tax, audit readiness, automation, forecasting, and stakeholder reporting while partnering with the CFO and leadership.
The summary above was generated by AI

H2 Analytics is a high growth and mission-focused technology company redefining how intelligence specialists train and modernize. We partner with military, national security, law enforcement, and other mission-driven organizations to improve readiness at speed and scale. Our team includes former intelligence professionals who have lived the problems we’re solving. We move fast, have ambitious goals, and are driven by a strong sense of purpose.

The pain point you can help us solve

H2 Analytics is scaling quickly. As we expand our operations, customer base, and product offerings, our finance function needs to evolve from early-stage financial operations into a more structured, automated, and scalable capability. We need stronger financial systems, cleaner reporting, tighter controls, and more reliable processes that can support growth, compliance, and decision-making across the business.

Historically, our finance operations have been lean and pragmatic, shaped around the needs of a fast-moving company. As the company grows, we see an opportunity to build a more mature finance function without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. This role will help establish the financial architecture, systems, and operating rhythm needed to support H2 Analytics through its next stage of growth, including global expansion, institutional financing, board reporting, and potential corporate development activity.

What we’re looking for

As our Controller, you’ll play a central role in building and scaling the finance function at H2 Analytics. You’ll own core accounting, reporting, financial operations, internal controls, and finance systems while helping the company move toward a more automated, data-driven, and strategically useful finance model. Reporting to the CFO, you’ll have a clear mandate to design, build, and scale an increasingly automated finance function from the ground up, while ensuring our financial operations are accurate, efficient, compliant, and ready to support continued growth.

You’ll thrive here if you enjoy ownership, ambiguity, and building practical systems from the ground up. This is not a narrow accounting role or a maintenance role inside a mature finance department. We’re looking for someone who can combine strong accounting fundamentals with sound business judgment, operational discipline, and a willingness to improve how work gets done. If you’re motivated by meaningful work, high standards, and the opportunity to grow into a broader finance leadership role, this position offers significant room to shape both the function and your own career path.

This role is designed for a high-potential finance leader. You will report directly to the CFO and receive close mentorship as the company scales, with exposure to board materials, investor relations, institutional financing, and corporate development. Over time, the intent is for this person to grow into broader finance leadership responsibilities as H2 Analytics continues to mature.

Prerequisites:

5-10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, to include:

• CPA designation.

• Experience managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

• Experience preparing accurate financial statements and supporting audit readiness.

• Experience with corporate tax filings, statutory reporting, payroll remittances, sales tax, and other recurring compliance obligations.

• Experience managing or supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, expense management, treasury, and cash reporting.

• Experience using modern finance tools, workflow automation, or AI-enabled tools to improve accuracy, reduce manual work, and increase speed.

Eligible to obtain (or hold) a Government of Canada Level II (Secret) security clearance.

Core skills:

Strong accounting judgment and the ability to maintain accurate, compliant, and decision-useful financial records in a fast-moving environment.

Ability to design, implement, and scale practical finance processes, internal controls, reporting workflows, and financial systems.

Ability to manage close, consolidation, revenue recognition, tax, remittances, audit readiness, and multi-entity financial reporting as the company grows.

Ability to improve financial operations across AP, AR, invoicing, collections, expenses, treasury, and working capital management.

Ability to use modern systems, integrations, automation, and AI-enabled workflows to reduce manual effort and create a lean, scalable finance function.

Ability to support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow modelling, budget-versus-actual reporting, and financial analysis for leadership.

Ability to communicate clearly with executives, department heads, external advisors, auditors, and other stakeholders.

Strong ownership mentality, sound judgment, and comfort operating in an environment where processes are still being built.

Nice to have:

Experience working in a high-growth technology company, service-based business, government contracting environment, defence contractor, or similarly complex operating environment.

Experience supporting M&A evaluation, due diligence, or post-transaction financial integration.

Experience with SaaS, software, professional services, government contracts, or hybrid revenue models.

Experience with ERP implementation, finance system migration, or optimization of tools such as Rippling, HubSpot, expense management platforms, or similar systems.

Military veteran or direct experience working in defence, national security, public safety, intelligence, or other high-trust operational environments.

Base salary: CAD $100,000 - $130,000 based on skill and experience.

Bonus: Eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
