Join Lazer and help us solve problems and build the next generation of products!

Who You Are:
  • 2-4 years of experience building and shipping production software, full-stack or backend-leaning.

  • Comfort across a modern web stack (TypeScript, React, Node.js). Python is a plus, especially for AI work.

  • AI-native: you build with AI by default (LLM APIs, agentic workflows, AI coding tools) and are comfortable shipping AI-powered features.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a builder's instinct, with a keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to engineers, founders, and non-technical stakeholders alike.

  • Comfort working directly with clients, and an eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-moving environment.

  • Some exposure to fintech or financial products, or a genuine interest in the domain, with an awareness of why security and compliance matter when handling financial data.

    What You'll Do:

    • Embed with client teams to understand their users and their challenges, then build and extend their product to meet real needs.

    • Develop custom solutions and integrations that solve concrete client problems.

    • Translate what you learn from users into clear, actionable feedback for the client's product and engineering teams.

    • Build and maintain integrations with the services fintech products depend on: payment processors, banking partners, and financial data providers

    • Build full-stack features that are increasingly AI-powered (LLM-driven workflows, agentic features, and the product around them), using AI across your own workflow to ship faster while keeping quality high.

    • Support client teams with onboarding, documentation, and training on what you build, so it holds up after you roll off.

    • Build strong, trust-based relationships with client teams, acting as a technical partner and advocate, not just a contractor.

      Nice to Have:

The following would be a bonus experience to have, though highlight any additional experience or skills you may have. We like working with people with varied backgrounds and experiences.

      • AI-powered features that map well to fintech: document extraction (for KYC or statements), transaction categorization, support chatbots, search, or data normalization.

      • Creating MCP servers, or building deeper agentic tooling and testing infrastructure for agentic applications.

      • Background in fintech, regulated financial services, or experience with RegTech and compliance automation tools.

      • Experience with payment, banking, or financial data integrations.

      • Relevant open-source contributions or technical publications.

AI in our hiring process
We use AI to help us review and shortlist applications based on job-related criteria. A human hiring manager always makes the call on who moves forward. As a company that builds with AI every day, we're all for candidates using it too — just be upfront about how it helped.

What you need to know about the Calgary Tech Scene

Employees can spend up to one-third of their life at work, so choosing the right company is crucial, not just for the job itself but for the company culture as well. While startups often offer dynamic culture and growth opportunities, large corporations provide benefits like career development and networking, especially appealing to recent graduates. Fortunately, Calgary stands out as a hub for both, recognized as one of Startup Genome's Top 100 Emerging Ecosystems, while also playing host to a number of multinational enterprises. In Calgary, job seekers can find a wide range of opportunities.
