The Opportunity

Our Power and Energy Solutions Accounting team is seeking an Accountant to support the accounting and reporting of our Alberta natural gas storage assets and related marketing activities. To be successful in this role, you will combine a strong attention to detail with a proven ability to build effective working relationships with our Alberta natural gas traders.

What you’ll do

• Accrue monthly financial results for our Crossfield and Edson natural gas storage assets.
• Responsible for settlement of deals ensuring accuracy of invoices and that cash receipt or payments are made in compliance with contracts.  
• Record monthly results for TransCanada Turbines.
• Analysis of actual results against plan and forecast.
• Support quarterly reporting with analysis of financial results compared to prior year.
• Identify and implement process, reporting tool and system improvements to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
• Provide support and coverage to other team members when required.

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years progressive accounting experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with teams outside of accounting.
• Professional Accounting designation.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Energy Trading and Risk Management systems, preferably Endur.
• SAP-ECC and SAP-BPC system knowledge.
• Familiarity with Power BI.
