Job Description

Our B&A Studios team has an exciting opportunity for a GIS Analyst to join our team, based in our Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver office. As part of CIMA+, B&A Studios combines its recognized expertise in planning, design, and community engagement with the breadth of CIMA+’s engineering and consulting services. We are seeking a highly motivated GIS Analyst with 1-3 years of experience to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and can adapt to evolving project demands. As a GIS Analyst, you will support a variety of planning, energy, and geospatial projects. You should have expertise in figure development, web mapping, and geospatial analysis, along with a strong interest in contributing to the team's technical growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality, visually compelling report figures that are both aesthetically pleasing and communicate content clearly.
  • Develop and configure web mapping applications using ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, and related tools.
  • Conduct spatial data analysis and surface development to support land use and planning initiatives.
  • Create and update forms using Survey123 Connect.
  • Develop and maintain geospatial databases and tools.
  • Collaborate with CAD, Engagement, Graphics, and Planning teams to support ongoing projects.
  • Assist in promoting GIS services across the company.
  • Contribute to GIS innovation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS or an equivalent qualification.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in GIS and spatial analysis.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Survey123 Connect).
  • Experience using ESRI extensions (e.g., Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Network Analyst, etc.).
  • Experience processing LiDAR data.
  • Strong figure development skills, with a focus on clarity, aesthetics, and adherence to established standards.
  • Experience developing web mapping applications using Experience Builder.
  • Solid understanding of projections and transformations.
  • Experience managing spatial data.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Assets

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Automate for workflow automation.
  • Python programming skills for geospatial automation and analysis (e.g., ArcPy, GeoPandas).
  • Familiarity with CityEngine or similar 3D geospatial tools.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling software (e.g., Blender, Rhino, SketchUp).
  • Have a portfolio that demonstrates past projects either from schoolwork or experience
