Position Overview:Reporting to the Manager, Global Network Services,

Job Description:

 The Wireless Network Engineer provides support for the Finning wireless network, ensuring that network services meet established service levels for coverage, reliability and speed.  

Major Job Functions are:

Service Delivery (60%)

  • Deploy and maintain wireless infrastructure services

  • Supporting role for projects through the Project Management office as required

  • Develop lifecycle strategy for assets within the infrastructure

  • Communications with business teams to understand requirements and working with other team members

  • Provide support for wireless LAN services across global locations.

  • Ensure all wireless services are designed and configured to achieve maximum up-time supporting the global SME to provide reporting and best practice support.

Service Improvements (20%)

  • Continuous review of service levels regarding the wireless network with the goal to improve costs, delivery, and SLA’s

  • Measure and communicate performance metrics for Infrastructure Services and analyze data to discover opportunities for service improvement

  • Building relationships with vendors to identify gaps and opportunities with emerging technologies

  • Standardize wireless network processes, procedures and equipment globally as defined by the global SME.

Documentation (10%)

  • Develop supporting documentations and high-level designs for services as required

  • Ensure site surveys are current and accurate for all locations with the ability to conduct site surveys with an appropriate toolset.

  • Regular review of existing documentation and update as required

  • Following of the project management process, procurement etc.

Reporting (10%)

  • Working with vendors and business teams to gather required information to assess if SLA’s are being met.

  • Manage reports on lifecycle management: lease expirations, software release, some software licensing etc.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of appropriate wireless tools such as Cisco Prime, LogicMonitor, Netscout/Erkahau etc.

  • Functional knowledge working with Microsoft Office application suite

  • Understanding of Project management

  • IT Security understanding to ensure wireless network access is controlled and compliant.
