Hotel Arts is seeking a motivated and results-driven Group Sales Manager to join our dynamic hotel team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving group sales by leveraging your industry contacts, initiating proactive sales activities, and building strong relationships with clients. The ideal candidate is a strategic sales professional who excels at identifying new business opportunities, managing client communications, and consistently exceeding sales targets. Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce room sales through prospecting, networking, responding to inquiries, conducting site inspections, client meetings and building relationships with corporations, industry suppliers, event planners, tour companies, tourism industry officials, etc.
  • Respond to all group leads generated by Tourism Calgary, Meeting Calgary, Direct Group Inquiries, on-line channels.
  • Develop proposals for prospective clients that address their needs regarding pricing, financial commitments and expectations.
  • Develop a contractual agreement that will address the client’s needs, frame out Hotel Arts cancellation policies, chronicle minimum requirements, record billing contingencies and obtain the client’s signature.
  • Participate in site inspections, FAMs, trade shows, sales trips, hosted events, community initiatives as required.
  • Participate and, where relevant, lead discussions, for group sales strategies in Sales Meetings.
  • Embrace the service ideal of being “quarterbacks of communication” to ensure that all internal correspondence regarding accounts helps ensure that our Operations Teams are set up for success in terms of servicing our clients.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date files and client contact information according to the standards established by the Sales Department.
  • Communicate with corporate contacts, event planners, and group contacts about new developments at Hotel Arts and special promotions during distressed or need periods.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as required for internal use as well as for conveying ongoing production with clients.
  • Communicate with operations team about new developments in the Group market.
  • Communicate with our clients in a manner consistent with our service ideals to “thank the customer and invite them back” to convey our sincere appreciation for their business resulting in strong client retention.
  • Ensure group bookings (rates, event space, billing, etc) are effectively loaded in Opera to ensure that the relevant operations staff are able to effectively service incoming and outgoing groups.
  • Close business effectively and coordinate all details to ensure delivery of the promised services in a manner that promotes our service ideals.
  • Inform the Operations Team of incoming VIPs, site inspections, corporate solicitation events, special promotions, among other developments.
  • Perform other assigned comparable or transient duties that are within the domain of knowledge and skills required by the position description.
Position Knowledge:         
  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge of the scope of her duties and responsibilities by completing all with precision and in a timely fashion.
  • Be knowledgeable about industry, competitors, and other opportunities with respect to selling groups.
  • Uses her experience and knowledge productively in the fulfillment of her duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
  • Provide excellent guest service and consistently demonstrate professionalism.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related hotel sales experience.
  • Exceptional communication and time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Opera.

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and eligibility for bonuses upon achieving sales targets.
