About the RoleWe’re hiring a Head of Engineering, Platform to own and scale the Platform domain with full technical and execution ownership for its surface area.
End-to-end engineering execution: architecture → roadmap → delivery → reliability.
Step-function performance improvements — targeting 50%+ latency cuts across AI workflows.
Observability, metrics, and model-selection systems that hold up at scale.
Engineering rituals that keep teams shipping: standups, backlog ownership (Linear), cross-functional coordination.
Translating product goals into clear plans, timelines, and unblocked teams.
Continuous quality pipelines: accuracy, completeness, reliability of every output.
Engineering bar across the stack: code quality, reviews, on-call, operational rigor.
You've built something from zero and shipped it: founder, founding engineer, or first technical hire at a company that actually mattered to you.
You've led people (even a small team) and made them better, not just managed them.
You thrive in high-intensity, early-stage environments, YC, seed-stage, zero-to-one — where speed and judgment are the whole game.
Ambiguity is your operating system. Incomplete direction → clear technical plan → shipped product. No heavy process needed.
You default to leverage and simplicity: durable solutions, sharp instinct for when to optimize vs. when to ship.
You still write code. This is a player-coach role, not a meetings role.
Take full ownership of the Platform engineering domain.
Ensure end-to-end observability and alerting for core workflows.
Define the domain's key performance, reliability, and quality metrics.
Identify and ship at least one high-impact improvement.
Establish execution cadence, priorities, and quality standards.
