Join Our Human Resources Team as a Data Science Specialist!
Are you passionate about leveraging data to drive meaningful change? As a Data Science Specialist in our HR team, you will support key initiatives that enhance our understanding of program effectiveness and employee experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Data Science, Statistics/Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • 11+ years’ of work experience with a min of 9 years’ progressive experience in a data science role
  • Writes scientific articles with no supervision
  • Understands complexity of implementing change at multiple locations/sites and can outline an effective Analytics change management plan
  • Able to balance innovation & risk
  • Sound knowledge of data science toolsets and Cloud based Analytics products
  • Able to influence business plans and impact of process and data improvements in support business outcomes
  • Fully competent in advanced data science disciplines

Responsibilities:

  • Lead ideation and intelligence stages of the analytics delivery model, actively engage with stakeholders across HR and business teams to inform this process
  • Leads analytics product development at a tactical level, will act as Integrated Lead for analytics projects where multiple stakeholders are required to support
  • Consistently investigate leading analytic practices and designs to produce new and creative analytics solutions in support of business objectives
  • Establishes appropriate tools, techniques and algorithms used to deliver the desired people analytics result which ensure high-quality model performance
  • Coach and mentor data professionals within HR and across the enterprise
  • Creates/develops appropriate level of documentation to support effective delivery of people analytics and establishment of the COE, such as data science standards, policies, and guidelines
  • Proposes people analytics solutions in alignment with Enterprise Data guidance
  • Makes decisions in planning, organizing and completing assignments, along with reviewing and evaluating recommendations and actions proposed by others
  • Decisions and actions may have a significant influence on the operation of other disciplines within OD COE or other BU/Functions (primarily HR)
  • Complex problem-solving capability with little or no guidance from existing standards & procedures
  • Provides guidance and assistance in continually improving existing standards and procedures
  • Evaluate and select new algorithms and methods of analysis for application within the company

 Location and other Key Details: 

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Collaborative team-based environment, supporting individual and corporate development
  • Work may involve extended periods of time at a computer as well as reviewing and preparing data
