Primary Focus

  • Lead recruitment, coworker onboarding, and administration. 
  • Oversee benefits, compensation, and performance review.  
  • Development of guidelines, policies, and training.  
  • Developing rapport with co-workers and leaders. 

Job Description 

  • Working in collaboration with the VP Operations to ensure HR programs and initiatives are aligned with corporate vision, values, culture, strategies, and goals.  
  • Develop, review, and update HR guidelines, policies, forms, and templates.  
  • Develop relationships with Leaders and coworkers, provide strategic guidance, support in decision making, address questions and concerns related to policies, compensation, benefits, roles, and workplace experience.  
  • Oversee the interpretation and implementation of guidelines and policies.  
  • Responsible for leading the recruitment process, supporting the hiring leader in finalizing the job description, advertising, and interviews.  
  • Responsible for the onboarding process, ensuring all co-worker contracts, and related documents are signed and up to date, including safety requirements.  
  • Responsible for the HR Welcome process. Work with teams and the Leader/s to ensure the co-worker has access to all tools and information they need to be successful.  
  • Ensure that both Alberta and B.C offices comply with Federal/Provincial legislation.  
  • Be aware of the business environment, the current needs of ESW’s divisions, as well as industry and business trends.  
  • Oversee the development and review of benefits plans/total rewards. Ensure administration of benefits plans, including tracking or days off and days in lieu. Administer co-worker performance reviews.  
  • Communicate with benefits providers, including annual co-worker information updates.  
  • Assist with organization and facilitation of staff meetings and social events.  
  • Manage the administration of the training program. Work with leaders and co-workers to promote technical training, coaching, and soft skills training, in alignment with team/corporate needs and specific co-worker goals.  
  • Advise or assist leaders in discussions around performance issues, as required including the Progressive Discipline Program.  
  • Day to day administration, communication, and assistance to leaders and co-workers regarding the ESW safety program. Interface with safety vendors and provide required information.  
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Skills and Experience Required 

  • An undergraduate degree in human resources or business, or an appropriate combination of education and experience are required. 
  • CPHR Designation – required. 
  • Knowledge and experience in all areas of Human Resources professional practice, demonstrated by at least 3 – 5 years of Human resources and business experience. 
  • Understanding of both Alberta, and British Columbia Employment standards as well as Health and Safety. 
  • Knowledge regarding safety program administration, including COR certification, would be an asset.  
  • Proficient in MS office suite.  
  • Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build relationships.  
  • Able to balance the goals and needs of the co-worker with those of the company and its leaders. 
  • Problem solving skills- able to develop possible options, and solutions.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Ability to remain calm and work efficiently under pressure.   
  • Organized, able to work independently and as part of a remote team, and able to manage time and priorities.  
  • Good ethical standing (bondable)  

Working Conditions 

  • Office environment
  • Long periods of sitting and computer use
  • Required significant mental effort 
  • Some lifting occasionally required, up to 50lbs 
  • The successful candidate must comply with the safety standards of ESW-IT and/or its clients
