The HRBP is responsible for the delivery and execution of HR services to employees and managers. Specifically, this position will support manufacturing plants in Edmonton, Sherwood Park and Nisku, Alberta. The HRBP performs a variety of employment related functions for the ultimate purpose of enhancing employee engagement, productivity and ensuring employee compliance with company policies.

Key areas of responsibility include labor relations, recruitment and selection of talent, development, and execution of corporate programs; policy and procedures, adherence to employment legislation, and the analysis and improvement of HR metrics/KPIs.

What you will do:

  • Support the Human Resources department operations and processes.
  • Strategically plan for the organization's human capital needs, in concert with other managers.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with employees and the management team.
  • Advise and assist departmental managers on the interpretation and administration of policies, programs, and best practices.
  • Coach, mentor, and guide people leaders and HR Generalists.
  • Adhere to local and country legislation.
  • Identify recruitment needs and delegate full cycle recruitment, as necessary.
  • Organize and execute the job performance review cycle.
  • Inform employees about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion.
  • Advise managers on organizational matters such as discrimination, discipline, harassment, etc.
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions and interpreting and administering contracts and policies to resolve work-related issues.
  • Compile statistical reports and metrics concerning personnel-related data such as turnover, cost of vacancy, grievance resolution, and absenteeism rates.
  • Analyze statistical reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare and adhere to department budget.
  • Remain current with best practices, legislative changes, and industry standards.
  • Oversee workload of department for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the work force.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

What we look for:

  • University degree in Human Resources Management or Labor Relations required.
  • 8+ years' Human Resources experience.
  • CPHR certification or working towards certification is an asset.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, individually, and as part of a team.
  • Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail required.

Working conditions:

  • Office environment.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $110,000- $120,000 CAN (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
