Are you an Intermediate  Full Stack Engineer looking for an opportunity to contribute to an impactful product in a collaborative environment?  We’re looking for an Intermediate Full Stack Engineer to join us at Thinkific. 

As an Intermediate Full Stack Engineer, you’ll be closely collaborating with designers and other engineers to enhance existing products and explore innovative solutions for new features. You’ll work across the application stack to ensure business milestones are met while also investigating, assessing, and fixing bugs within the platform. As an Intermediate Full Stack Engineer, your work will directly impact customer success by maintaining a high degree of quality and a consistent eye on metrics to see how the feature is performing. Reporting to an Engineering Manager, you’ll stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in software and follow best practices for quality development and testing methodologies.

Your goal will be to help shape a product that has a top-line impact on our company goals. Here’s how you’ll accomplish this: 

  • Lead small-medium feature projects from conception to completion, working with stakeholders to identify project risks and recommend mitigating solutions
  • Participate in effort and complexity estimation for new/proposed product features and tasks
  • Contribute to architecture decisions to build features at scale
  • Author code that is reliable, well-rounded, and sets an example to other team members
  • Effectively diagnose and troubleshoot problems within the Thinkific platform
  • Identify common patterns that will reduce technical debt and enable efficiency and quality
  • Share knowledge with others through mentorship, clear documentation, code reviews, pair programming, and training sessions. Use code reviews as a teaching opportunity
  • Work with your team to conduct new technology research; bring fresh ideas and concepts to bear on product development

The person we have in mind likely:

  • Have 3+ years of experience working in a Full Stack development role, and at least 1+ years of experience working in a SaaS environment
  • Have experience with  modern server-side programming languages (Ruby, Node, etc.)
  • Are knowledgeable and experienced with modern web frameworks (Ruby on Rails, Django, etc.)
  • Are knowledgeable in at least one modern JavaScript libraries/framework such as React, Nextjs, etc.
  • Demonstrate a practical understanding of Web APIs, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Showcase the ability to design and implement GraphQL services
  • Have experience with relational databases, SQL and engines like PostgreSQL
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, resourcefulness and the ability to communicate
  • Loves to learn and grow. They’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business 

These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job: 

  • Highly adaptable and a proven problem solver; familiarity with A/B testing, experimentation or hypothesis-driven development
  • Have experience building real-time AI web applications

The recruitment compensation range for this position is $102,000 - $127,000 CAD
