We are currently seeking a dynamic, and growth-oriented Intermediate to Senior Geotechnical Engineer with a Business Development focus to join the Geotechnical Practice in either Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta, providing technical and client relations skills and a proven ability to deliver on major assignments. 

Our current workload includes a portfolio of diverse projects across a wide spectrum of sectors such as Mining, Hydropower, Nuclear, Oil and Gas, Highways, Building Infrastructure, along with Energy and Water.  You will be expected to help drive growth of a fully integrated team to provide a world class engineering.

The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in geotechnical engineering, with a strong focus on business development, client management, and client retention.

Your role within the team:

•    This role will include developing client relationships, grow client portfolio, build internal company networks, support complex proposals, mentoring of junior staff, as well as acting as a strong technical reference.
•    Contribute to the development of project proposals/cost estimates and participate in the process of securing new business opportunities or expanding the scope of existing projects.
•    Undertake geotechnical assessments, complex analysis, design calculations and detailed designs with efficient use of specialized software.
•    Be the project manager and lead for proposals through planning, execution, financial management and close-out.
•    Support senior leadership with business development, managing clients, technical reviews, and foster client relations.
•    Analyze and prepare recommendations and reports for projects relating to foundation design, infrastructure, shoring, retaining walls, slope stability, ground improvement, settlement and deformation analysis, screening level seismic and liquefaction assessments, road structure design, dykes and dams, materials testing, and other geotechnical related projects.
•    Adhere to rules and procedures that ensure health, safety and environment as well as prevention of workplace incidents.
•    Furthermore, in a context of continuous improvement, be proactive in improving health, safety & environment rules and procedures to prevent potential hazards related to your work.

The ideal candidate:

•    Candidates should have the right flare and ability that will help us develop and expand our geotechnical capability by building client portfolio of our growing, flexible and outward looking team.
•    Be able to build and develop work in key target sectors such as Mining, Hydropower, Nuclear, Oil and Gas, Highways, Building Infrastructure, Energy, Water, Geohazards and Flood protection.
•    10 or more years of experience as a geotechnical engineer with strong client relationship building and project management skills.
•    Previous experience managing large clients and complex geotechnical projects in the key target sectors.
•    A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering / geotechnical engineering.
•    Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Alberta.
•    Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset
•    Proven experience in fundamental project management: budget development/control, scope management, scheduling, and quality. 
•    Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel if required for business development, or meetings with clients or other stakeholders. 
•    Proven ability to win work and improve business results and work effectively in a client-focused environment.

Compensation Range: 

Expected compensation for this role is between $125,000 - $150,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, location, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
